Pan-Arab newspaper Asharq al-Awsat published a cartoon critical of the nuclear agreement with Iran Tuesday.

Silhouette figures, representing America’s Uncle Sam and Iran, sprint hand in hand toward a placard saying “nuclear deal.” On the way, they trample a giant labeled “the Middle East” and leave tracks on the figure’s back.

Asharq al-Awsat is a leading Arabic-language daily based in London and distributed in countries across the Middle East. Although published privately, it supports the Saudi monarchy, according to The New York Times.

It isn’t the only Arab outlet to condemn the nuclear agreement, signed by Iran and six world powers in Vienna Tuesday. (RELATED: World Powers Strike Historic Nuclear Agreement With Iran)

Saudi newspaper Al-Watan published a cartoon of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei funneling money into the mouth of a man labeled “terrorism,” implying Iran will use the money it receives from the lifting of economic sanctions to support extremism.

Saudi officials have expressed concern the nuclear agreement with Iran could threaten regional stability, and often blaming Tehran for instability in war-torn countries like Yemen and Syria, Reuters reports.
