The iPod Is Not Dead

Apple is planning on updating its line of iPods Wednesday with a slew of new additions, including more colors and increased storage space.

It will now be possible to get an iPod in pink, gold and dark blue, reported Business Insider Wednesday.

The iPhone 6 has been lauded for the technological prowess of its camera, a feature the new iPod will reportedly have.

In addition, there will be a new model fitted with 128GB of space, doubling the 64GB found in the current generation iPod Touch.

This comes as a surprise as Apple has been attempting to distance itself from increased storage space. In a podcast interview, executive Phil Schiller spoke on consumers’ growing use of storage services in the cloud.

“The belief is more and more as we use iCloud services for documents and our photos and videos and music, that perhaps the most price-conscious customers are able to live in an environment where they don’t need gobs of local storage because these services are lightening the load.”

In an aim to speed up the device, the new iPod Touches will host a 64-bit chip along with the “M” chip that allows users to track fitness found in iPhones.

The 128GB model will retail at $399.
