Bobbi Kristina Brown died Sunday, several months after she was found face down and unresponsive in the bathtub of her Atlanta home.

The 22-year-old was moved to hospice care in late June, and died while at the long-term care facility in Atlanta.

“Bobbi Kristina Brown passed away surrounded by her family,” her family said in a statement issued to People Sunday. “She is finally at peace in the arms of God.”

“We want to again thank everyone for their tremendous amount of love and support during these last few months.”

The only child of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown was hospitalized at the end of January after her boyfriend Nick Gordon found her unconscious in the tub of the Georgia home they shared. Police believe she was underwater for at least two to five minutes before he found her, and he administered CPR until paramedics arrived. She was then placed in a medically induced coma at Atlanta’s Emory University Hospital, and over the next few months reports conflicted over whether or not she was improving. Doctors said her death was imminent, but at a concert in April her father said she was “awake.” (RELATED: Bobby Brown’s Sister Claims Bobbi Kristina Is Off Life Support; Houston Family Says She’s Not)

In early July, one of Bobbi Kristina’s closest friends alleged that her boyfriend “hit and choked her” before she was hospitalized. Alex Reid said Whitney Houston’s daughter would hide in her mother’s closet and call Reid crying after Gordon abused her. Then the entire Brown family, with the exception of Bobby, was banned from visiting her after one of them took a picture of her on her deathbed and tried to sell it to tabloids. Whitney Houston’s family — Bobbi Kristina’s legal guardians — barred them from the hospice facility. Bobbi Kristina’s mother died under strangely similar circumstances. Whitney Houston was found dead in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel in February of 2012. She died from drowning, heart disease and cocaine use.
