Boston’s bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympic Games was dealt a major blow when Mayor Marty Walsh announced he wouldn’t be signing any documents that put, “one dollar of taxpayer money on the line for one penny of overruns on the Olympics,” Monday.

The document Walsh was referencing, “is the host city contract that has to be signed by government leaders before any city can be chosen as host,” but the mayor isn’t the only Massachusetts official to shy away from the document, reports ESPN. Gov. Charlie Baker also told the U.S. Olympic Committee that, “he had to wait for a report from a consulting group, due next month, before making any decision on whether to lend his support.”

The USOC selected Boston as America’s official bid city back in January but said Monday it would select a new site — most likely Los Angeles — if the city refused to cooperate.
