Kevin Roper was driving a Wal-mart tractor trailer last June when he struck the limousine carrying Tracy Morgan, killing one and critically injuring several more. Investigators released new information regarding the wreck Tuesday, including that Roper had been up for 28 hours straight when the wreck happened.
Roper was also going 20 mph over the speed limit, though he did brake on impact. He had driven over 800 miles from Georgia to Delaware before heading out on the deadly trip. (RELATED: In Tearful 1st Interview Since Crash, Tracy Morgan Remembers His Slain Friend)
Roper had been driving for the company for under four months and had received nine “critical events reports,” which are given out when drivers are reported for unsafe driving. He had also been in a “preventable accident” and lost his safety bonus.
Prosecutors have charged Roper with death by auto and four counts of assault by auto. He plead not guilty. (PHOTOS: Tracy Morgan On His Return To Comedy: ‘I Never Left’)
