The St. Louis County police department released surveillance video Tuesday which showed 18-year-old Tyrone Harris, Jr. pulling out a gun before being shot on Sunday night in Ferguson.

Harris has been charged with 10 felonies after police said he opened fire on plain clothes officers. The officers returned fire, hitting Harris. He is currently in the hospital listed in serious condition.

Video shows a group of people running away from an off-camera occurrence. A young man believed to be Harris, Jr. is seen emerging from the crowd and pulling out a handgun. He’s then seen running off camera while pointing the gun.

Police have said that they shot Harris, Jr. after he began shooting at them.

Harris has a long criminal history which includes weapons charges. The gun he reportedly had was a stolen 9 mm. Harris’ Facebook page shows him posing in numerous photos while holding and pointing a handgun.

After the shooting, Harris’ father said that he did not believe the police account of the shooting. He told reporters that “there’s a lot more to this than what’s being said.”

Harris Sr. also described his son as a friend of Michael Brown, whose death a year ago at the hands of Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson was what sparked the protests that occurred Sunday and Monday night.
