Al Gore running for president?

BuzzFeed, please.

That’s what CNN’s Jeff Zeleny had to say in response to a supposedly blockbuster report by BuzzFeed late Thursday afternoon announcing that the most boring former Vice President of the United States may be considering a presidential run against Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton.

“Two people close to Al Gore pushed back on a report Thursday that suggested the former vice president was considering running for president in 2016,” Zeleny wrote in a story on CNN.com. “An associate of the 67-year-old Gore told CNN that the speculation was “groundless,” and a spokeswoman for Gore added later Thursday that there was “no truth” to the idea he is considering a White House run.”

BuzzFeed‘s story by cat-loving Andrew Kaczynski reported that people within possible breathing distance of Gore were maybe or maybe not in talks with him about a possible run.

“Supporters of Al Gore have begun a round of conversations among themselves and with the former vice president about his running for president in 2016, the latest sign that top Democrats have serious doubts that Hillary Clinton is a sure thing,” he wrote.

“A member of Gore’s inner circle asked to be quoted ‘pouring lukewarm water’ — not, note, cold water — on the chatter. ‘This is people talking to people, some of whom may or may not have talked to him,’ the Gore adviser said.”

That’s hardcore. People talking to people, some of whom may or may not have talked to him?
