Jenna Bush Hager and her husband welcomed their second daughter into the world Thursday.
The couple announced the news in an Instagram post Friday, adding that they named her after Bush’s grandfather, George H.W. Bush.
“Welcome to the WORLD Poppy Louise Hager–named after my darling Gamps who went by Poppy during his childhood. We are in LOVE.”

On the Today show Friday, Savannah Guthrie said Jenna FaceTimed her grandfather to tell him the news.
“Facetimed Grampy — Poppy — to tell him the news, and it got very emotional,” Guthrie said. “[And Jenna said,] ‘And then you can imagine how emotional I was after that. When Poppy was growing up in Connecticut, he was known as smart and loyal and humble.'”
Bush added that her Poppy “has some big socks to fill.’”
Poppy Louise weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces and measured 20.5 inches long, and joins her older sister Mila, who is two.
