Morgan Freeman’s step-granddaughter was stabbed to death on a New York sidewalk early Sunday morning.

Edena Hines, 33, was reportedly murdered by her 30-year-old boyfriend who was trying to perform an “exorcism” on her.

George Hudacko witnessed the murder from his apartment window and called 911. He said the suspect yelled, “Get out, devils! I cast you out, devils! In the name of Jesus Christ, I cast you out!” as he stabbed her.

“The girl was making a lot of noise, screaming,” Hudacko said. “I saw something sparkly going up and down. I called 911. I was begging them to come.”

Her live-in boyfriend was still standing over her body and “screaming incoherently” when police arrived on the scene. He was later arrested and taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

Freeman, who adopted Hines’s mother, issued a statement on her death.

“The world will never know her artistry in talent, and how much she had to offer,” Freeman said. “Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.”
