Emanuel Skarlatos, father of Alek Skarlatos, the Guardsman who helped save dozens of innocent lives on a train in France, had a strong condemnation for the would-be assailant and the political correctness crowd, saying, “this terrorist coward deserved what he got, and the PC crowd needs to recognize terrorism for what it is.”

“It’s better to die like a lion that be slaughtered like sheep,” Skarlatos also said in a phone interview with MSNBC’s “News Nation” with Tamron Hall.

Tamron Hall:  And do you know when you’ll be able to see him? As we mentioned, he’s going to Germany. When will you be able to have the family reunion?

Emanuel Skarlatos: I have no idea. I’m probably as clueless as you are. I know he’s going to Ramstein, a hospital in Germany. I think it’s a military base there and I think it’s an Air Force base and that’s where Spencer is going to probably get a follow-up on his injuries. From that point, we are hoping to get them back here.

Hall: Well I know it’s going to be a wonderful reunion and congratulations to your family for having such a hero in the midst of the family. As you pointed out you’re a proud dad and we’re proud Americans to be able to talk to you today. Thank you so much, sir.

Skarlatos: Can I just say one quick thing? It’s better to die like a lion that be slaughtered like sheep. And this terrorist coward deserved what he got, and the PC crowd needs to recognize terrorism for what it is. And I thank you for having me on.

Hall: Thank you for having a son willing to serve this country as an honorable man. Thank you, sir.

Skarlatos: Thank you.

MSNBC erroneously reported that Alek Skarlatos is a Marine, when in fact he is a member of the Oregon National Guard.
