Jeb Bush called Donald Trump’s immigration plan “unrealistic” and stated that, “It will violate people’s civil liberties, it will create friction with our third largest trading partner that is not necessary.”

Bush, during a press conference along the U.S./Mexico border Monday, stated that, “welcome Mr. Trump into the debate. I think that is great. He’s a serious candidate and ought to be held what serious candidates are held to, he needs to be held to accounted for his views.”

Reporter: Donald Trump left a message for you this morning. He said you would come here and you would learn that illegal immigration is not an act of love. What do you say?

Jeb Bush: What I say that Mr. Trump’s plans are not ground in conservative principles. It would cost hundreds of billions of dollars. It’s not realistic, it won’t be implemented. And we need border security to be able to deal with getting this country back on track. So I’m not going to get into the issues of what he said and what I said. The simple fact is, his proposal is unrealistic. It will cost hundreds of billions of dollars. It will violate people’s civil liberties, it will create friction with our third largest trading partner that is not necessary. And I think he’s wrong about this. If he was interested in a more comprehensive approach he might want to read my book “Immigration Wars” which I published four years ago. I welcome Mr. Trump into the debate. I think that is great. He’s a serious candidate and ought to be held what serious candidates are held to, he needs to be held to accounted for his views.
