In any dispute between two groups of designated victims, Muslims win by default. Muslims vs. gays, Muslims vs. women, Muslims vs. ethnic minorities… even Muslims vs. people in wheelchairs.
Marco Chown Oved, Toronto Star:
A young wheelchair user has been taken off the waiting list for a publicly subsidized apartment because he is not a member of the Muslim community that established the building…
According to a letter that arrived at his mother’s house last week, Austin Lewis, 21, was removed from the waiting list at the Ahmadiyya Abode of Peace building on Finch Ave. W in North York because he is not a member of their faith…
Lewis, who has used a wheelchair since a disease attacked his spinal cord when he was 8, says he applied to more than 100 accessible buildings in Toronto, Brampton and Peel Region, and there was no notice that any of them were restricted to a certain community…
It’s already hard enough to find affordable housing in the GTA, Lewis says, but when you’re in a wheelchair, your options are limited even further.
First of all, I didn’t realize Canada even had the term “subsidized housing,” because that implies there’s some housing that isn’t subsidized. What’s up with charging people a bunch of money just to be alive, eh? You’re supposed to be better than that, Canada. You’re Canada.
Secondly, the solution seems simple: This guy needs to stop whining about “discrimination,” stop pissing and moaning about how tough it is to be in a wheelchair, and just convert to Islam.
Why not? Is there something so terrible about Islam that he doesn’t want to convert? Is he such an Islamophobe that he’d rather go to the newspapers than do the right thing? Why doesn’t he just admit that he hates Muslims? Huh?
As always, it’s obvious here who the real victims are.
And now, here’s Ezra Levant with the wingnut/teabagger counterpoint:
