Fox News’ Ed Henry has been a thorn in Hillary Clinton’s side all throughout the fallout over her use of private email server, and that needling showed during a press conference following her speech at the Democratic National Committee’s summer meeting in Minneapolis on Friday.
Clinton snapped back at Henry after the reporter asked a three-part question about her use of a private email server and about two recent news stories involving former President Bill Clinton and her top aide, Huma Abedin.
Were you aware … that your husband wanted to give paid speeches to repressive regimes like North Korea? Do you have any comment on these new emails that raise questions about conflict of interest involving your aide Huma Abedin? And finally, I wonder if, you’ve said there’s nothing unique about this situation. You’ve said this before. Can you name one other cabinet secretary who had a private server?
“Well, let me answer one of your questions because I think that’s what you are entitled to,” Clinton shot back, opting to answer Henry’s question about a new ABC News report that Bill Clinton considered giving a speech in North Korea.
ABC reported early Friday that representatives from the Clinton Foundation reached out to Cheryl Mills, Hillary Clinton’s State Department chief of staff, to inquire whether the former president should pursue an invitation to speak at an event in North Korea. Clinton was also invited to speak at an event in the Congo.
Mills advised declining both offers, but emails indicated that Bill Clinton pressed the issue and wondered whether he would be allowed to give the speech if the payment went directly to the Clinton Foundation.
In response to Henry, the Democratic presidential candidate said Friday that as a matter of policy all offers submitted to her husband were directed to the State Department for review.
Henry is the reporter responsible for eliciting a controversial joke Clinton made earlier this month about her email server. After he asked her if she wiped the server clean, Clinton quipped, “like with a cloth or something?”
And in May, Clinton chided Henry when he interrupted her during remarks at a campaign event in Iowa. He asked Clinton whether she planned to take questions from the press.
“Maybe when I finish talking to the people here, how’s that?” she said.
