Lena Dunham criticized pop songs that talk about consent Monday, the night after Justin Bieber performed his song “What Do You Mean” at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Dunham tweeted, “Let’s do away with pop songs where a girl nods yes when she means no.”

While she didn’t name Bieber specifically, it’s likely that she’s referencing these lyrics in Bieber’s latest song.

“What do you mean?/When you nod your head yes/But you wanna say no/What do you mean?”

Ryan Seacrest asked Bieber what the song meant a few weeks ago, and the pop star said it was only meant to be “fun and summery.”

“Girls are often flip-floppy,” Bieber said. “They say something and they mean something else. So, what do you mean? I don’t really know, that’s why I’m asking.” (RELATED: The Real Reason Justin Bieber Cried During The VMAs)
