Apple unveiled its latest — and largest — version of the iPad during a press event in San Francisco Wednesday morning, and CEO Tim Cook called it the “biggest news in iPad since the iPad.”
The new iPad — dubbed the iPad Pro — has a whopping 12.9-inch display and can run a split screen app with iOS 9. (RELATED: iPhone 6S And 6S Plus Announced)
It runs on Apple’s newest processor, which the company claims is 1.8 times faster, and has a battery that lasts up to 10 hours.
The iPad Pro comes equipped with a four-speaker audio system, and Apple bragged that it’s “80 percent faster portable PCs.”
The lightweight model is measures in at 6.9mm thin and weighs 1.57 pounds.
“It can do things that a smartphone doesn’t do because it doesn’t have to sit in your pocket,” Apple’s Phil Schiller said Wednesday.
“For the first time in an Apple display, it has a variable refresh rate.”
Apple also introduced two key features to go with the iPad Pro — the Smart Keyboard and the Apple Pencil.
“This is unlike any keyboard you’ve ever used before,” Schiller said. (RELATED: Finally! A New Apple TV)
The pencil works as a stylus for the tablet device, and Apple claims it works just like a real pen or pencil would.
