Two University of Utah football players are now in stable condition after being shot at a house party over the weekend.

According to witnesses, tight end Lo Falemaka and running back Marcel Brooks-Brown attempted to force three uninvited guests from the party on Saturday, at which point the three suspects opened fire.

Head coach Kyle Whittingham released the following statement about the incident on Sunday:

Obviously, our first concern is that both Lo and Marcel are going to be OK, which appears to be the case. We don’t have all of the details yet, but it is our understanding that they are the victims included in this incident and we feel very fortunate that they are expected to fully recover. It is unknown at this time how soon they will be able to return to the football field, but we are optimistic it will be in the near post future.

Utah is ranked no. 21 in the latest AP Top-25 poll.

Authorities are still searching for the three suspects.
