A tense moment unfolded during Wednesday night’s GOP presidential debate on the subject of Jeb Bush’s wife.

The former Florida governor demanded that fellow candidate Donald Trump apologize to his Mexican-American wife, Columba, for remarks he’s made about her being bi-lingual. But the real estate mogul directly refused to do so, saying that he had done nothing wrong.

“Did Mr. Trump go to far in invoking your wife?” CNN moderator Dana Bash asked Bush.

“He did, he did,” Bush said.

“To subject my wife into the middle of a racuous political conversation was completely inappropriate, and I hope you apologize for that, Donald,” he added.

Trump responded by saying that while he has heard that Bush’s wife is “a lovely woman.”

Bush agreed, noted that his wife was in the audience, and requested a direct apology.

“She is absolutely the love of my life, and she’s right here and why don’t you apologize to her, right now?” Bush said.

“No, I won’t do that because I said nothing wrong. but I do hear she’s a lovely woman,” Trump shot back.
