A right-wing mayor in Hungary has published a new action movie-style video warning migrants that trying to cross the Hungarian border is a bad, bad idea.

László Toroczkai is mayor of Ásotthalom and leader of the Sixty-Four Counties Youth Movement, a nationalist group that seeks to reclaim historically Hungarian lands in nearby countries. Now, in an action-movie style video, he wants to send the message that illegal immigrants will not be allowed to sully his pristine village.

“From today, 15 September, in Hungary, crossing the border illegally is a crime,” he intones with great severity. “From now on, the borders of Hungary are protected by a fence that is continuously being built, by thousands of policemen and by the Hungarian army.” Those caught illegally crossing could find themselves in prison, Toroczkai warns, if they aren’t simply kicked out entirely.

Toroczkai says in his town, not only is the army on the scene, but also “militant field guards” and civil guards.

And then… cue the action scenes. Soaring music plays as Toroczkai shows off motorcyclists, helicopters, and even soldiers on horseback patrolling the rather mundane landscape of southern Hungary, ever watchful for illegal migrant crossings.

“Hungary is a bad choice,” Toroczkai says. “Ásotthalom is the worst.” If migrants really want to get to Germany, he says, they can travel through Croatia and Slovenia, with a Google map screenshot helpfully pointing the way.
