Tracy Morgan returned to the stage for the first time in over a year Sunday night at the Emmy Awards.

Morgan, 46, was in a harrowing car accident last June that left him in a coma for eight days and killed his friend James McNair. Morgan has been in rehabilitation because he suffered a brain injury.

He made a surprise appearance Sunday night when he presented the last award for best drama series, which went to “Game of Thrones.” (RELATED: Tracy Morgan Gets Married)

“Last year, Jimmy Kimmel said, ‘We’d see you here next year, Tracy Morgan,” Morgan said after he received a standing ovation. “Thanks to my doctors and my beautiful wife, I’m here standing on my own two feet. God bless all you for your love, prayers and positive thoughts for the past 15 months. I’m honored to be here at the Emmys.”
