$125,000-A-Year Hamptons High School Principal Stars In Grinding, Twerking, ‘Misogynistic’ Rap Video

An assistant principal at a public school in New York is facing criticism for her star turn in a rap video featuring dirty lyrics, substantial drug and alcohol consumption and a tremendously impressive display of grinding, twerking and gratuitous sexual content.

The assistant principal is Esther Adler-O’Keefe, reports WABC.

Adler-O’Keefe works at Southampton High School in the ritzy Hamptons area at the east end of Long Island. She has worked at the school since 2010 and brings home a salary of over $125,000 per year, notes the Daily Mail.

She is responsible for discipline and keeping order at Southampton High.

The video is for the song “Best Friend” by J.R., featuring Trey Songz.

The “Best Friend” YouTube video, published on Sept. 14, has been viewed close to 500,000 times as of early Tuesday morning.

Adler-O’Keefe appears at the beginning of the video, when she and a man, presumably her husband, leave J.R. in charge of what is ostensibly her palatial home. She also appears at the end to find J.R. sleeping amid a throng of scantily-clad women in a sprawled cluster on a couch.

In between those two events, J.R. and his friend Trey Songz participate in a massive drug- and alcohol-fueled party filled with all manner of bikini-clad women, a swimming pool and an enormous slip-and-slide — among much else.

The opening line of the song is: “I got two bitches twerkin’, screamin’ that’s my best friend (her best friend).”

Adler-O’Keefe has claimed that she simply had no earthly idea what the full video would show.

“Speaking as a private individual and not in my professional capacity, I wish to state for the record that, when I agreed to participate, I was completely unaware of the content, lyrics, and title of the video and song,” the $125,000-a-year assistant principal said in a statement obtained by 27east.com, a website dedicated to the goings-on in the swanky Hamptons.

“Had I known of such content or lyrics, I certainly would not have participated in any fashion. I find the lyrics and content of the music video vulgar, offensive, and demeaning,” Adler-O’Keefe also said.

Another fairly printable snippet from “Best Friend” goes: “Yeah she be like ‘Go best friend. Shake that shit. (Shake your ass girl.)”

It’s not clear how much money Adler-O’Keefe was paid for her star turn in the rap video.

Sean Brand, president of the Southampton Teachers Association, condemned Adler-O’Keefe’s participation in the video.

“I think the video condones sex, it condones illicit behaviors and it is misogynistic to say the least, and I would not be appearing in a video of comparable nature given the opportunity,” Brand told 27east. “She is a representative of the district, as am I, and we certainly are held to different standards.”

At the Southampton High School website, a message appears from local schools superintendent Scott Farina.

“It has recently come to our attention that a member of our administrative staff appeared in a music video,” Farina’s statement explains. “The video in question showcases behaviors and language use that is [sic] not promoted by the Southampton School District. In fact, we actively teach our students the importance of good character and making smart choices. Additionally, this is not representative of who we are as a district nor of our students and staff.”

J.R. doesn’t have much of a web presence but he is a young rapper from St. Louis.

Trey Songz — born Tremaine Aldon Neverson was born on November 28, 1984 in small-town Virginia — is a very successful Grammy-nominated R&B singer.
