Bernie Suggests Universal Healthcare Could Stop Gun Violence [VIDEO]

While answering a question on gun control during CNN’s Democratic debate Tuesday, presidential candidate Bernie Sanders suggested that providing the “thousands of people in this country” who suffer from mental health issues access to health care and counseling could stop violent tragedies like in Roseburg, Oregon.

SANDERS: Let’s begin with the understanding that Bernie Sanders has a D- voting record with the NRA … I believe and have fought for [inaudible] to make sure that the thousands of people in this country today — who are suicidal, who are homicidal — who can’t get the healthcare they need because they don’t have insurance or are too poor. I believe everybody in this country who has a mental crisis has got to get mental health counseling immediately.
