Life hasn’t been easy for “Nashville” star Hayden Panettiere since the birth of her daughter Kaya in December 2014. The actress checked herself into a treatment center to seek help with postpartum depression continues, a spokesman for the actress told E! News.

Her representative told CNN that she is voluntarily requesting professional help and that “the media respect her privacy during this time”.

Just last month she opened up on “Live with Kelly and Michael” about her depression. Her character Juliette from the ABC musical drama series “Nashville” suffers from PPD as well. Panettiere explained that she can “very much relate” to the struggles.

“It’s something a lot of women experience. When [you are told] about postpartum depression you think it’s ‘I feel negative feelings towards my child’ I want to injure or hurt my child.’ I’ve never, ever had those feelings. Some women do…Women need to know that they’re not alone, and that it does heal,” Panettiere told the viewers.

Hayden added, “There’s a lot of people out there that think that it’s not real. … It’s something that’s completely uncontrollable. It’s really painful and it’s really scary and women need a lot of support.”

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists reported that one in seven women within the United States suffer from this type of depression.

The star posted a photo on social media stating that she is “finally coming back in to my own body” on Saturday.
