Members of the Clinton camp are questioning why the former secretary of state’s Deputy Chief of Staff Huma Abedin testified before the House Select Committee on Benghazi Friday.

Abedin, who currently serves as the vice chairwoman of 2016 Democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton’s campaign, was a top aide at the Department of State during the fatal Sept. 11, 2012 attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

“Huma has been nothing but entirely cooperative with the committee’s requests, yet it remains unclear why the committee is focused on her, given her lack of knowledge about the events surrounding Benghazi,” campaign spokesman Nick Merrill said in a statement.

Emails released from the Clinton email server, which is currently under investigation by the FBI, show the two corresponded about the events during the former first lady’s reign at the agency.

Abedin was questioned at a closed-door session at the Capitol. The transcript of the testimony will be released at a later date. Clinton is set to appear before the committee at an open hearing Oct. 22.

Four Americans — U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens,  information officer Sean Smith and two CIA operatives, Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods — died when Islamic State militants attacked the diplomatic facility. The State Department came under fire for ignoring continued requests for additional security.
