Zooey Deschanel gave no profound answer when asked why she named her newborn daughter after a zoo animal.
During an interview with the Today show Tuesday, the 35-year-old actress who gave birth in August revealed why she and her husband named their daughter Elsie Otter.
“We both love otters,” Deschanel said. “They’re really sweet and they’re also smart.”

“They keep their favorite tools and they hold hands while they sleep. There are so many amazing things about otters. They’re a wonderful animal.”
