WikiLeaks just published detailed and intimate information on CIA chief John Brennan’s wife and daughters Wednesday, despite them having no connection whatsoever to Brennan’s official work in government.

The information comes from Brennan’s personal email account, which a high-school student claims he accessed last week in protest of American foreign policy and subsequently sent over to WikiLeaks. The organization is ostensibly dedicated to uncovering government secrets from anonymous sources. It has been suspected of having connections to the Kremlin. This connection comes in the form of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange hosting a TV talk show on the Kremlin-funded RT network.

But Brennan’s personal email account contains no classified data. Rather, it contains a form called the SF-86 dating back to 2009. In order to obtain security clearance from the federal government, employees have to fill out the SF-86 with all manner of personal information. This includes criminal history, family history, health, any associations with foreign governments, drug use and other details.

It also includes information on his wife and daughters, as well as his brother and sister. Kathy, Brennan’s wife, has her social security information and date of birth displayed, leaving her vulnerable to identity theft.

“There is lots of inappropriately disclosed personal information in there. It’s a perversion of transparency to turn it into a weapon against personal privacy,” Steven Aftergood, the director of the Project on Government Secrecy at the Federation of American Scientists, told The Daily Beast.

SF-86 has recently hit the news because of a massive hack of the Office of Personnel Management, which resulted in Chinese hackers gaining access to the SF-86 form for millions of government employees. (RELATED: The OPM Hack Was Much Bigger Than Everyone Thought)

Brennan, at least, won’t be alone. But this case is different from the the OPM hack, in that Brennan’s SF-86 now features prominently on WikiLeaks.

Wikileaks tweeted Wednesday that it intends to release more emails and documents.

The CIA strongly condemned the release and emphasized the malicious nature of the leak.

“The hacking of the Brennan family account is a crime and the Brennan family is the victim,” the CIA said in a statement, according to CNN. “The private electronic holdings of the Brennan family were plundered with malicious intent and are now being distributed across the web. This attack is something that could happen to anyone and should be condemned, not promoted. There is no indication that any the documents released thus far are classified. In fact, they appear to be documents that a private citizen with national security interests and expertise would be expected to possess.”

A WikiLeaks spokesman did not return a request for comment from The Daily Caller News Foundation.
