Bernie Sanders Was Sick Of Hearing About Hillary’s Emails, But He Got Better

Font Size:

We all remember that magic moment during the first Democratic Party debate, when Bernie Sanders really stuck it to those wingnuts who keep pointing out Hillary Clinton’s lies about her emails:

“The American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails!”

Listen to that rapturous applause. Look at her dazzling smile. Sure, Bern and Hill are opponents, but they haven’t forgotten the real enemy: the Republicans. Never go against the Family!

But then Hillary repaid Bernie’s favor by calling him a sexist for criticizing her, and that seems to have cured his sickness. Peter Nicholas, WSJ:

In the Democratic debate last month, Mr. Sanders said voters were “sick and tired” of the focus on Mrs. Clinton’s “damn emails…”

Mr. Sanders rejected that assessment on Wednesday. If her email practices foiled public-records requests or compromised classified information, those are “valid questions,” Mr. Sanders said…

On the issue of Mrs. Clinton’s emails, Mr. Sanders didn’t say he regretted his debate remarks. “You get 12 seconds to say these things,” he said of the debate setting. “There’s an investigation going on right now. I did not say, ‘End the investigation.’ That’s silly….Let the investigation proceed unimpeded.”

Sure. He didn’t say the facts don’t matter. He just said he was sick of hearing about them!

He’s embracing the truth too late to do him any good, of course. If he’d said “The investigation should proceed unimpeded” during the debate, he might not have gotten such a round of applause, but at least he’d still be in the race.

Americans don’t trust Hillary Clinton, because she’s given them absolutely no reason to trust her. Bernie had one chance to use that to his advantage, and he blew it.

Bern: Out.
