Carly Fiorina attempted to slam Donald Trump for meeting Vladimir Putin in a green room prior to their “60 Minutes” appearance Tuesday during the Republican debate, but she told Jimmy Fallon that she met Putin in the same way.
During an appearance on the “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” in September, Fiorina explained that she met Putin in “Beijing, we were in sort of a green room setting actually.”
“The two of us were giving a speech, each of us were giving a speech at a major economic conference called APEC,” he said. “And so the two of us were sitting sort of in a chair like this, about this close for 45 minutes before his speech and before mine. I would describe him as a formidable adversary. He actually can be quite funny and charming but he is a KGB guy, we should never forget this.”
Tuesday, Fiorina said, “Mr. Trump ought to know we should not speak to people from a position of weakness. Sen. Paul should know that as well. One of the reason I’ve said I would not be talking to Vladimir Putin right now, although I have met him as well, not in a green room for a show, but in a private meeting.”
