During Tuesday’s Republican primary debate on Fox Business, Sen. [crscore]Marco Rubio[/crscore] said that if the national minimum wage is increased to $15 per hour, “all the automation that is replacing jobs and people right now will be accelerated.”

RUBIO: Every country in the world has rich people. What makes America special is that we have millions and millions of people through hard work and perseverance become successful. The problem is that today people aren’t working hard as ever because the economy doesn’t provide jobs that pay enough. If I thought that raising the minimum wage was the best way to help people increase their pay, I would be all for it, but it isn’t. In the 21st century, it’s a disaster. If you raise the minimum wage, you’re going to make people more expensive than machines. That means all the automation that is replacing jobs and people right now will be accelerated.
