Is Clinton ‘Often Confused’?

Hillary Clinton’s 2008 Internet campaign director said Monday that an email describing the former secretary of state as “often confused” most likely referred to her dealings with staff briefers rather than her schedule.

In a tweet posted shortly after The Daily Caller News Foundation posted its story Monday about the email, Peter Daou wrote, “TOTAL BS. Having written briefs for HRC myself, Huma was asking briefers to be precise so as not to create confusion. To twist that against Hillary shows how desperate these people are.”

Daou has not responded to a request from TheDCNF for further clarification of his Twitter comment.

Daou also worked for current Secretary of State John Kerry during his unsuccessful run for the White House in 2004 against President George W. Bush.

The Jan. 26, 2013, email was from former Clinton co-Chief of Staff Huma Abedin to another close Clinton aide, Monica Hanley. Abedin instructs Hanley to be clear about the time for an upcoming telephone conversation with India Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Abedin: “Have you been going over her calls with her? So she knows singh is at 8?”

Hanley: “She was in bed for a nap by the time I heard that she had an 8am call. Will go over with her”

Abedin: “Very imp to do that. She’s often confused.”

The email was circulated by Abedin using a private email account associated with the Clinton private server. Other emails among those made public Monday included detailed information about Clinton’s upcoming schedule.

Those emails were not classified but scheduling information about one of the highest ranking U.S. officials could be helpful to terrorists from groups like ISIS and al-Qaida, which have vowed to kill as many Americans as possible.

Judicial Watch, the non-profit government watchdog, obtained the email among 35 previously undisclosed emails it made public Monday as a result of a Freedom of Information Act request. Judicial Watch has filed more than 40 FOIAs for documents concerning Clinton’s use of a private email address and private server in her New York home. Many emails were in regards to State Department business and her actions following the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic facility in Benghazi, Libya.

Four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens were murdered in the attack.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said “I’m sure it is seen as an unfortunate email for supporters of Mrs. Clinton, but the email speaks for itself. We presented it for everybody to read and reach their own conclusions about Mrs. Clinton’s conduct in office.”

Fitton said it “should be remembered that we had to sue in federal court to get this information, just as we have had to do for so much about Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state.”

The email will likely fuel renewed speculation about whether Clinton suffered more serious injuries in a December 2012 fall in her home than has been acknowledged. President Bill Clinton said last year that his wife required six months to recover from the incident. She has since denied having any long-term problems stemming from the fall.
