Former Republican Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said Tuesday that President Barack Obama “doesn’t seem to understand that ISIS is a threat to us.”
Appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” host Joe Scarborough asked Huckabee why “a five-year-old orphan from Syria, though, should bear the brunt of the blame for President Obama’s petulance in a press conference.” (RELATED: Christie: No Syrian Refugees In America, Not Even ‘Orphans Under The Age Of Five’)
Huckabee suggested, “I get it, but look, is the best way to help that five-year-old refugee to bring them to America 8,000 miles away on a ship or a plane that might contain some people who are coming here under the auspices of refugees but they are actually ISIS terrorists who are just waiting for the opportunity to kill us?”
“Let me ask this,” said Huckabee. “If you bought a five-pound bag of peanuts and you knew that in the five-pound bag of peanuts there were about 10 peanuts that were deadly poisonous, would you feed them to your kids? The answer is no.”
“So if we’re going to help these refugees,” said pondered Huckabee. “Why don’t we do it in an area closer to where they are being refugees from?”
