Barack Obama says his favorite conspiracy theory about himself is Operation Jade Helm.
In an interview with Bill Simmons in GQ published Tuesday, Obama said the most entertaining conspiracy theory he’s read about is “that military exercises we were doing in Texas were designed to begin martial law so that I could usurp the Constitution and stay in power longer.”(RELATED: ESPN Shuts Down Grantland)
Obama then joked, “Anybody who thinks I could get away with telling Michelle I’m going to be president any longer than eight years does not know my wife.”
Jade Helm 15 was an U.S. Special Operations Command operation that was conducted from July to September in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado. (RELATED: Seven Days In September? The Truth About Jade Helm)
Texas citizens were so concerned about the operation that Gov. Greg Abbot directed the Texas State Guard to monitor the exercises. Abbot explained it’s “important that Texans know their safety, constitutional rights, private property rights and civil liberties will not be infringed.”
Simmons later asked Obama about the John F. Kennedy assassination files and Obama said, “I gotta tell you, it’s a little disappointing. People always ask me about Roswell and the aliens and UFOs, and it turns out the stuff going on that’s top secret isn’t nearly as exciting as you expect. In this day and age, it’s not as top secret as you’d think.”
