Utah Rep. [crscore]Mia Love[/crscore], the first black female Republican elected to Congress, endorsed Florida Sen. [crscore]Marco Rubio[/crscore] for president on Thursday.

Appearing on the Fox News show “Happening Now,” Love said: “We have to do everything we can to make sure we strengthen our national defense, and do everything we can to make sure that this country and the people that are living in this country are safe, and Marco is right person to do that.”

“He’s been taking about these threats from the very beginning,” Love said. “He talked about the threat with ISIS, he’s very strong when it comes to foreign policy, national defense and this is a time where we need a president in our country that is going to make sure that we are strong.”

Rubio has won a number of congressional endorsements in recent weeks. This is his twelfth from a member of the House. He has also been endorsed by three senators.

Love, the former mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah, was elected to Congress in 2014.
