In the struggle to remain relevant, Martin O’Malley, appearing on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday, cited the results of the Iowa Youth Caucus, which indicated he has traction in at least one voting block.

O’Malley explained that this past week was his “best week of fundraising we’ve ever had. And in Iowa, in a youth poll, with thousands of kids across, high school kids across Iowa, we actually garnered 24 percent of the caucus going vote and finished ahead of Hillary Clinton.”

The results O’Malley cited was conducted by Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate’s office last Thursday in conjunction with the Republican Party of Iowa and the Iowa Democratic Party. More than 1,600 middle school and high school students were surveyed.

“The people of Iowa make up their own mind and they’re not intimidated by big money, they’re not intimidated by so-called inevitable frontrunners,” O’Malley said. “And come caucus night, we are going to emerge out of that night as the Democratic alternative to Secretary Clinton, this year’s inevitable, coronated, frontrunner. I’ve just begun to fight. I’m looking forward to the Iowa Caucuses, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Nevada after. This race is just getting going.”

On the Democratic side, Clinton received 14 percent of the poll, O’Malley 24 percent, and Bernie Sanders received 52 percent.

On the Republican side, Ben Carson received 22 percent, Donald Trump received 15 percent, and both [crscore]Marco Rubio[/crscore] and [crscore]Rand Paul[/crscore] received 14 percent.
