When you don’t box out in basketball bad things are going to happen, the Rider University basketball team learned that the hard way when they gave up a game winning dunk to Wagner U. Monday night.
Rider held a 64-63 lead over Wagner University with seconds remaining in the game. Wagner missed a three-point attempt for the win. Instead of boxing out for the rebound, they allowed Wagner senior Dwaun Anderson to sky over the entire Rider defense, and smash home the game winning putback dunk. That is why rebounding fundamentals and boxing out potential rebounders is the first thing taught in basketball. Absolutely no excuse for allowing Anderson to dunk over the entire team for the win.
The good news for Rider players is that they’ll have plenty of time to learn from their mistakes, because that video is going to be played for everybody in the world to watch.
