Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine alleged Friday Planned Parenthood is violating state law by disposing of aborted fetuses in an inhumane manner.

An investigation sparked by undercover videos released by The Center for Medical Progress did not find evidence the clinics are selling aborted fetuses, but found the clinics pay companies to dispose of the remains that ultimately dump them in a landfill.

DeWine alleges that violates Ohio law, which states: “The fetus shall be disposed of in a humane manner.”

“Disposing of aborted fetuses from an abortion by sending them to a landfill is callous and completely inhumane,” DeWine says in a statement Friday. “It is important the public be aware that these practices are taking place at these Ohio facilities.”

The AG found the Bedford Heights, Cincinnati and Columbus clinics sent fetuses to companies that disposed of those fetuses in landfills. It also found a discrepancy between the Bedford Heights report that it uses one company for disposal. When questioned by investigators, the AG said that company told them it does not accept fetal remains for disposal as a corporate policy.

Planned Parenthood Greater Ohio could not immediately be reached for comment.

The AG’s office did not immediately respond to request for comment.
