Rick Santorum slammed Sen. [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore] insisting, “I’ve got the social conservative track record, he doesn’t.”
Wednesday on MSNBC’s “MTP Daily” with Chuck Todd, Santorum also complemented Donald Trump claiming, “I’m actually flattered” that Trump is “using this kind of populist themes that I talked about, talking about manufacturing, talking about immigration, talking about trade, talking about the things that I think are very important for the republican party to begin to emphasize.”
However, Santorum’s praise for Trump stopped when hesaid, “I just believe that we’re a more credible messenger when it comes to that message having won Pennsylvania, having worked in these areas, and have policies that I think are going to be much more compelling and being able to go up against a Hillary Clinton. You’re looking for someone who has a track record to show that you can accomplish those things.”
Santorum then turned to Cruz, “I’ve got the social conservative track record, he doesn’t. I mean, he talks a good game. But there’s a difference between someone who has actually done a lot of things in these areas and someone who parrots those. And again, that’s the authenticity gap.”
