Former NYPD Commissioner Howard Safir said Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney was “doing what’s politically correct” when he said that a recent attack by a self-proclaimed jihadist had nothing to do with Islam.

“This is the mayor that doesn’t have the facts. It’s not been investigated. It probably is related to ISIS. And he’s doing what’s politically correct, and that’s just irresponsible,” Safir argued. (VIDEO: Watch Hero Philly Cop Get Shot Multiple Times And Then Give Chase)

Appearing on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends” on Monday, Safir said similar attacks like what occurred last week against the Philadelphia are “what police officers are going to face everyday in this country from now on.” (VIDEO: Philly Mayor: The Jihadist Who Shot A Police Officer Has ‘Nothing To Do With Being A Muslim’)

“Whether the person is self-radicalized or whether this person is a actual agent of ISIS. This is what we are going to see in the future,” Safir claimed.

“You work with the FBI, who has a good intelligence base,” Safir advised. “You work with the intelligence agencies, you get your people out there and you make sure that your hero officers, like Officer Hartnett, are well-protected.”
