Philly PD Starting To Think Cop-Shooting Might’ve Had Something To Do With Islam

Font Size:

A Muslim shot a cop in Philadelphia last week, and he said he did it in the name of Islam. But #NotAllMuslims did it, of course. When people are shot for Allah, or raped for Allah, or hit with planes for Allah, or otherwise inconvenienced for Allah, our first priority must always be to protect the feelings of Muslims.

CBS News:

Police in Philadelphia are investigating a tip that a man charged in the ambush shooting of a patrolman is connected to a larger, radical group that may continue to pose a threat to officers.

The police department said Sunday evening that someone approached an officer on the street over the weekend and alleged that the man who attacked Officer Jesse Hartnett — allegedly 30-year-old Edward Archer — “had an affiliation to a group with radical beliefs.”

What sort of radical beliefs? You have to scroll down to the 14th paragraph to find the first mention, and that’s only because the mayor is denying the mere possibility:

Jim Kenney, in his first week as mayor of the nation’s fifth-largest city, called Archer’s actions “abhorrent” and “terrible” and said they have nothing to do with the teachings of Islam.

“This is a criminal with a stolen gun who tried to kill one of our officers,” he said. “It has nothing to do with being a Muslim or following the Islamic faith.”

Note that Archer specifically said he was “following Allah” when he shot the cop. That was his openly stated motive. But non-Muslims, like the mayor of Philadelphia and most of the journalists covering the story, seem to think they know more about Islam than the Muslims who carry out these attacks do.

At least CBS News only buries the religious affiliation of the shooter. It doesn’t appear at all in the CBS Philly story. That story only talks about a “radical group,” and notes that Archer gave “religious and political reasons” for the shooting, but it never specifies what sort of group or what sorts of reasons. It’s utterly bizarre. I wouldn’t be surprised if they start calling Islam “the I-word.”

How about just using this headline, guys?

Thing Happens For Some Reason

Just use that whenever a Muslim does something wrong. That way you won’t hurt anybody’s feelings, nobody will try to kill you for hurting their feelings, and you can still pretend you’re doing your job.

By the way, kudos to Officer Hartnett. When that poor misunderstood victim of Western imperialism fired 13 shots at him and hit him with 3, he was still able to chase the guy down. Archer got a bullet in the ass, which is a preview of what he can expect from his 72 virgins.

Oh, wait… Hartnett is white, and the guy he shot back at is black. Never mind, everybody.

P.S. In completely unrelated news…
