Bloomberg’s Al Hunt said that “there’s no excitement” for Hillary Clinton among young voters, which helps to explain why Bernie Sanders’ campaign continues to surge.

Appearing on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Wednesday, Hunt said the Clinton Campaign is “really nervous” and they “think there’s a possibility they could lose both” Iowa and New Hampshire. (RELATED: Hillary: Trump Could Deliver Next State Of The Union)

However, Hunt claimed that a loss in the first two states “doesn’t necessarily change the odds” of a Clinton nomination but “it weakens her and means we’re going to be going at this for a long, long time on the Democratic side.”

“In the football parlance, they [the Clinton campaign] hear footsteps,” Hunt suggested. “They know that they’re in for a very difficult race.”

Hunt said “there’s fatigue” for Clinton especially with young voters. “I’m just stunned by how poorly she does with young voters. There’s no excitement, there’s no enthusiasm.”

If Sanders wins Iowa and New Hampshire, Hunt predicts that “there’s going to be a Niagara Falls of contributions coming in.”

The latest Quinnipiac poll has Bernie Sanders up by five points against Clinton in Iowa and the latest Monmouth poll has Sanders up 15 points in New Hampshire.
