Republican presidential hopeful [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore] made a bold claim about one of his staffers on Monday that turned out to be mostly hogwash.

Cruz told a TMZ cameraman that his body man Bruce Redden, a former Oklahoma State place kicker, “still holds the Oklahoma high school record for field goal kicking” and was “the leading scorer Oklahoma State for two years.”

Unfortunately for Cruz, Redden totaled 69 points in his two years kicking for the Cowboys (’05, ’06), but he never led the team in scoring. His 53 points in 2005 were good for second on the team.
