Meghan McCain says “it’s hard for me to watch” Sarah Palin endorse Donald Trump “after what Donald Trump said about my father’s service.”

Appearing on Fox Business Network’s “Varney & Co” on Wednesday, with guest host Ashley Webster, Sen. John McCain’s daughter said, “I wish I just saw this a little less like pandering and doing something that’s popular, instead of sticking with your integrity and the kind of conservative beliefs she has a espoused for so long.”(RELATED: Sarah Palin: ‘I’m Proud To Endorse Donald J. Webster asked Meghan McCain if Palin’s endorsement was a slap in the face to Sen. John McCain.

Megan replied: “You know, I come on this show once a week with you guys and normally it is fun and rowdy and this is a hard one for me. It really has been. My father’s campaign was all about character and integrity and I know a lot of love belief[s] that my father has espoused isn’t popular many more. I understand that. I understand that the… anti-establishment candidates are taking over but for me it is hard as someone who worked on his campaign for almost two years of my life, his advisors and his staff are still my extended family.”

“It is hard for me to watch her endorse Donald Trump after what Donald Trump said about my father’s service. Just on a personal level, it’s hard for me to differentiate personal and politics in a situation like this,” Meghan argued. Meghan was referring to Trump’s assertion that her father was “not a war hero” because he was captured.

Asked how well she knows Palin and if it was a surprise, McCain said, “I haven’t spoken to her since my father lost. And I was shocked simply because I know of her relationship with Ted Cruz. She’s debatably responsible for his political career. And I wish I just saw this a little less like pandering and doing something that’s popular instead of sticking with your integrity and the kind of conservative beliefs she has a espoused for so long.
