Former Republican presidential candidate Pat Buchanan says Donald Trump “has a perfect right to back out of the debate.”

Appearing on NewsmaxTV’s “Steve Malzberg Show” on Wednesday, Buchanan said that Fox News has “taunted him, they baited him, they disrespected.” (RELATED: Trump Backs Out Of Fox News Debate [VIDEO])

Trump has “a perfect right to drop out of the debate,” Buchanan claimed. Fox News “taunted him, they baited him, they disrespected him in that Fox News release. And he simply decided, ‘Look, if that’s the way you’re going to treat me, go right ahead and have your debate and I’m not attending.’ I mean, they’ve got a perfect right to do that. CNBC I think has been dropped out of the debate because of the handling of the moderators.”

“National Review has been dropped out of a debate after it launched an all-out attack on Trump. And so Trump responds and says, ‘I’m not going to be in the debate.’ I think he’s made the right decision from his stand point and I hope he stands by it.” (RELATED:It’s On! Referring to the Fox News statement, which Trump has taken issue with, that said, “We learned from a secret back channel that the Ayatollah and Putin both intend to treat Donald Trump unfairly when they meet with him if he becomes president — a nefarious source tells us that Trump has his own secret plan to replace the Cabinet with his Twitter followers to see if he should even go to those meetings,” Buchanan argued that Trump has a “institutional problem with Fox News.”

Buchanan said Trump has a problem with Fox News because of “the manner of which they treat him with press releases and taunts etc, and the people they put on as moderators who are hostile to him, but he’s not hostile to everybody at Fox. I’m sure he’s not hostile to Sean Hannity or O’Reilly. He’s been on the show many times. I don’t find any inconstancy there.”(RELATED: Drama Continues: Trump Questions Megyn Kelly’s Bias Ahead Of Fox News Debate [VIDEO])
