Ben Carson told CNN’s Jake Tapper Tuesday that Ted Cruz should fire the campaign staffer responsible for spreading the rumor he was dropping out of the 2016 race.
“As a Christian I will accept an apology, but it doesn’t correct the problem,” noted Carson. “This is a cultural issue when people in your campaign feel that it’s okay to distort the issues to their political advantage and to tell absolute lies.” (RELATED: ‘This Is Horsesh*t’ — Carson Camp Calls Foul Play On Cruz In Iowa)
“The question really is,” the former neurosurgeon continued, “will there be any consequences for that? … There needs to be some responsibility.”
Tapper then asked Carson, “so would you like someone from the Cruz campaign fired?”
“I think whoever is responsible for blatant lying should be dismissed, yes absolutely,” Carson responded.
