Donald Trump’s wife, Melania Trump, said Wednesday that yes, she is an immigrant, but “I follow the law.”
That answer came as a response to MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski, who asked Melania in an interview if she was offended by her husband’s comments about Mexicans.
“Many felt he had insulted Mexicans,” Brzezinski said.
Melania replied, “No, I don’t feel he insulted the Mexicans. He said ‘illegal immigrants.’ He didn’t talk about everybody. He talked about illegal immigrants.”
Mika pressed Melania saying, “But, you’re an immigrant. Do you ever think he’s gone too far.”
“I follow the law. I follow the law the way it’s supposed to be. I never thought to stay here without papers, ” said Trump’s wife.

“Morning Joe” sat down with Melania Trump in a wide-ranging interview, wherein Melania revealed she speaks multiple languages: English, Slovenian, German, French, and Italian.
She also revealed what she saw in Donald when she first met him.
The Slovenian former supermodel said, “His mind, amazing mind. And very smart, very charming, great energy. We have a great relationship. We are our own people. I’m my own person, he’s his own person. I don’t want to change him, and he doesn’t want to change me.”
The two first met in 1998 and got married in 2005.
At one point, Mika read out a list of insults people have used to describe Donald, and Melania responded, “We have thick skin and we know people will judge him, and call names…They don’t give him enough credit.”
She also defended him from claims of sexism saying, “I see him in life, he treats women the same as men.””If you’re a woman, you’re human, you’re human. If it’s a woman or a man, it’s no different you’re human.”
“If you’re a woman, you’re human, you’re human,” she added. “If it’s a woman or a man, it’s no different — you’re human.”
Melania told Mika that she has ideas about what she’d like to accomplish as first lady, but didn’t reveal them.
She said she’s currently focused on being a mom to her son Barron.
