CNBC host John Harwood says “a lack of transparency may be the reason why [Hillary Clinton] had the private email server” while she was Secretary of State.

In an interview on CNBC’s “Power Lunch,” Larry Kudlow said “maybe” it’s true that Clinton is the most transparent public official but “the State Department found 104 emails that were classified, and these were personal emails she wrote, and she deleted 30,000 emails. I mean John, I don’t want to nitpick, but it just seems to me that’s not really transparent.” (RELATED: Hillary Clinton Believes That She Is The Most Transparent Person In American History [VIDEO])

Harwood responded, “I think what she’s referring to is the release of all the emails that she deemed work-related are now, have been going through the process of the State Department and that have resulted in their identification in some of the back and forth between agencies as being either classified or top-secret.” (RELATED: Napolitano: Case For Prosecuting Hillary For ‘Espionage Is Well Known, Well Documented’ [VIDEO])

“I think a lack of transparency may be the reason why she had the private email server in the first place. She wanted to protect her information,” Harwood said.

Clinton “says it was about convenience, you know only carrying one device. Most of the people that I’ve talked to who know her and have worked with her think it was about trying to keep tighter control over information. That has created a problem for her.”
