A new Rasmussen survey revealed that 24 percent of Republican voters are very likely to vote for Donald Trump if he chooses to run as a third party candidate.

According to Rasmussen, this is six percentage points higher than their previous poll on the question back in July.

That number goes up 12 percentage points when Republican voters were asked if they were simply “likely” to vote for him if he ran independent of the Republican Party.

The survey of 1,000 likely voters happened between March 6 and 7 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence, the survey notes.

Trump threatened last Thursday he would leave the party if establishment Republicans block him from being nominated at the convention this summer.

“The Republicans are gaining millions and millions of people because of me,” he said on MSNBC, citing the GOP turnout to the polls.

Despite the threat that the New York real estate mogul may damage the Republican Party’s chances at defeating the Democrats in the general, Bloomberg News reports he may not have enough money to mount a credible third party run.

His personal financial disclosure form, reports Bloomberg, shows he had about $300 million in cash and marketable securities. However, $1 billion is needed to run a major presidential campaign and that would need to come out of his own bank account.
