The Baltimore cop who was caught on video repeatedly slapping and then kicking a student has been charged along with the officer who watched it happen.

Officer Anthony Spence, 44, allegedly hit the student and is charged with second-degree child abuse, second-degree assault and misconduct in office while the other officer, Saverna Bias, is charged with second-degree assault and misconduct in office, The Baltimore Sun reports. Arrest warrants were served Wednesday, and both officers posted bond.

The cellphone video was filmed March 1 and put on Facebook. It appears to show Bias watch as Spence slaps a student. The mayor and school have condemned the officers’ actions. The two officers, as well as School Police Chief Marshall Goodwin, have been put on administrative leave.

“Anytime there is a law enforcement officer with that level of authority that seems to be abusing that authority, it impacts all of us across the country,” Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said. “It certainly is not helpful as we work to build bridges of trust to see that level of mistreatment.”

Mike Davey, Spence’s attorney, said Spence thought the student in the video was trespassing. The two officers are expected to appear in court in April.
