Why don’t progressives take sexual harassment more seriously? How can they be so darn insensitive to the plight of working women in the phallocentric workplace?

Berkeley Law School Dean Sujit Choudhry, who received almost no internal discipline last year when he copped to sexually mauling his assistant and other female underlings, resigned Thursday morning.

Choudhry called it quits two days after Tyann Sorrel sued him and the University of California system, headed by former Obama DHS secretary Janet Napolitano, for sexual harassment , retaliation and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

But he remains a professor and still serves as director of the school’s global law research and policy center.

John Winer, lawyer for Sorrel, told the Washington Gadfly that, “I think that is outrageous that he is being allowed to remain on the faculty. This appears to be his decision and not the university’s.“

He said the school has a “very lax” attitude towards sexual harassment. Worse yet, keeping Choudhry on the faculty prevents Sorrel, on an extended leave of absence, from returning to work, Winer explained.

Sorrel, who is black, has unsuccessfully applied for jobs elsewhere.
