Hillary Clinton said Monday that GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump is “inciting mob violence” which invokes memories of lynching.

“When you are inciting mob violence, which is what Trump is doing…people remember mob violence that led to lynching,” Clinton told MSNBC’s Chris Matthews during a Democratic town hall in Springfield, Ill. which airs Monday night.

Clinton and her Democratic challenger Bernie Sanders have blamed Trump for condoning violence at his rallies. Last week, a 78-year-old Trump supporter, who is white, sucker-punched a black protester as he was being escorted out of a campaign rally in North Carolina. On Sunday, Trump said he has instructed his staff to look into paying for the assailant’s legal bills.
