BuzzFeed Editor-in-Chief Ben Smith is on a personal mission to find an editor to set up job in the company’s new Sao Paulo bureau. He’s headed to the country of thong bikinis next week.

But the new chief can’t be just anyone.

While the hire does not even have to be Brazilian, they must be “ambitious” enough to lead a small team of reporters and freelancers. (In the fine print this means one reporter and “maybe” some freelancers). A job description states that the individual must have “a passion” for the stories young people care about — which the site claims is LGBT issues, education and the Olympics.

While being Brazilian or speaking Portuguese is not a requirement, having a “deep familiarity” with Brazilian publishing law is on the list of musts.

No word on whether white or straight people can apply.
